Limites da utopia: cidade e modernização no Brasil desenvolvimentista (Florianópolis, década de 1950)

The objective of this article is to discuss the context of the politics of modernization in the middle of 20th century, with its content of projections and utopian visions on the Brazilian cities. The text analyzes the circulation and the appropriation of social representations constructed in the scope of the projects of urban reforms between specific segments of the population of Florianópolis (SC), integrated for readers and interlocutors of desenvolvimentist programs and simbols, as Brasília. The article is guided by research in periodicals of the city in that period, as well as in its first Managing Plan, in which it is possible to locate readings and perceptions shared on the process of socio-urban transformations in course.
