This work was carried out in the EPAMIG/CTNM´s Experimental Farm, wich is located in the irrigated area of Jaiba in the north of Minas Gerais state. The aim of this work was to evaluate the influence of polyethylene banana bunch cover on the bunch crop characteristics in the three first years of production (1996-1998). The experimental design was completely randomized with two treatments and 21 replications and each plot had three plants. The harvest time of plants which had bunch covered was 12 days shorter in the second crop. There were no effect of bunch cover for bunch weight; total fruit weight; fruit mean weight; hands mean weight; lenght, weight and girfth of central fruit of the second hand in all three crops.
