Sapodilla tree in Brazil

The sapodilla is a fruit species with great potential for economic exploitation in Brazil, having established production systems that can assist in the development of their culture. Research has been conducted with greater frequency in the Brazilian Northeast, where are also the main producing areas. This work is an updated compilation of sapodilla crop in the country, containing information based on research studies of Brazilian and foreign institutions, as well as observations in the producing regions. The information covers the production chain of sapodilla, ranging from a brief history to commercialization, highlighting topics such as agronomic management, genetic resources and breeding, harvesting and post-harvest.
