Abstract:
The emotional well being and mental health of university students, specially those from medical schools. Has been a constant concern throughout this century. This historical-bibliographical review (1902-1994), has found references in literature both from Europe, mostly from France and England, and from the American continent, the great majority from the United States. In Brazil, the first descriptions date from the early fifties, with numbers increasing considerably after 1975. The articles selected here point up the different methodological procedures used in surveys and research analyses in this field, thus affording a comprehensive view of approaches to metal health problems among college students.
