In this paper we attempt to present some questions with respect to the approach used in some Brazilian middle-level textbooks about the topic of stationary sound waves in tubes. In addition to ranking the textbooks within a set of criteria, we also present some suggestions for further discussions of this topic. We suggest the use of gifs and animations and the use of two experiments that allow a view of the profiles of variation of pressure and air displacement for the harmonic modes of vibration.
