A new strategy for teaching nuclear physics and radioactivity for the new high school: web application guided self-learning

The new high school allows the student, in a curriculum of various topics, to choose the area of science and technology, where skills on radiation/radioactivity are present. It is an issue that involves several applications for society, such as for the medical area, where it is possible to diagnose and treat diseases, as well as industrial applications and the production of electricity free from the emission of greenhouse gases. However, the way in which ionizing radiation has been treated by the media tends to drive young high school students away from this area of science. Due to the importance of the theme, this work presents an alternative proposal for the new high school, where teaching will take place in a critical, relatively in-depth and non-biased way.
