We present in this work a review of articles dealing on experimentation in optics teaching, between the years 1998 to 2010. The reviewed articles were published in the following journals: Caderno Brasileiro de Ensino de Física, Revista Brasileira de Ensino de Física and Física na Escola. The purpose of this review is to provide an updated overview of research in optical experiments on divided and classified by themes: nature of light, reflection, refraction, diffraction, polarization, interference and scattering. We also emphasize the need for production of similar revisions in other thematic areas.
