The genesis of probabilistic interpretation in quantum mechanics textbooks

In this article, we propose an analysis of twenty textbooks used in Physics education for undergraduate and graduate programs. The main objective is to investigate how these textbooks approach and justify the probabilistic interpretation of the square of the modulus of the wave function in Quantum Mechanics. From the perspective of physics education, the importance of teaching not only scientific concepts but also the underlying justification for these concepts is highlighted. Therefore, the discussion of the analysis of these works is based on primary and secondary sources related to the topic. The main questions to be addressed are what arguments and evidence are presented to legitimize the probabilistic interpretation associated with the wave function and what limitations are identified in each adopted didactic approach.
