Analysis of the contributions of CERN physics school in the context of high school (2010-2022)

A review of empirical studies involving teaching and learning processes with the goal of contributing to the field of Particle Physics education at the high school level is presented, encouraged by the CERN School of Physics. To achieve this, an analysis of academic production regarding data in Brazilian journal publications as well as at the main events in the field of Physics education was conducted. The analysis was carried out from the theoretical perspective of Bardin, engaging in a dialogue with researchers advocating for the introduction of Modern and Contemporary Physics, including Particle Physics, in basic education. The results were discussed under the following categories: (a) teaching methodologies for scientific and technological education; (b) the effects of these methodologies on students' conceptual, procedural (skills), and attitudinal learning; and (c) the challenges faced by students in the activities undertaken. The corpus consisted of nine studies reporting the outcomes of teaching practices in this area. Most of the studies describe the activities conducted by teachers to address Particle Physics as a means of scientific outreach, with only a few of them characterized by rigorous methodological descriptions.
