An approximate treatment of the potential and of the charge density of a quasi-circular conductingcylinder is carried out along the line proposed by Maxwell in his 'Treatise' for quasi-spherical conductors. This allows us to establish relations between charge density and curvature in simplecases. The slightly corrugated charged plane is also treated.
