An experiment in which the students assemble a system of thermal stabilization of a diode laser held at controlled temperature and stabilized using low-cost materials is presented. A Peltier controller circuit is presented for stabilize an optical system composed by laser pointer and optodiodes. The associated physical effects are discussed allowing the students to learn theoretical contents in the areas of thermodynamics and semiconductors.
