Analysis of The Modified Brazilian Functioning Index (IFBr-M) and its Socials Implications

ABSTRACT:

This article sought to investigate the perception of professionals in areas related to the assessment of disability regarding the Modified Brazilian Functioning Index (IFBr-M) instrument, as well as the implications of adopting or not this new assessment model, the resources needed for its implementation and validity and the current situation of the consolidation process in the Unified Health System as a unified instrument, in accordance with the biopsychosocial concept of disability that characterizes Brazilian legislation, such as the Brazilian Inclusion Law - Law no. 13.146, of July 6, 2015). Approaches were made with public agents and representatives of different institutions and civil entities, through interviews with two professionals involved with the Movement of People with Disabilities and with the formulation of the IFBr-M. It is a debate that is still quite incipient and needs to be faced more seriously by institutions and public agents, in their formation and also in their performance, given the relevance of the topic for society. The IFBr-M presents itself as an important tool for assessing disability in a biopsychosocial model, with numerous practical implications that mark the daily lives of this population, as well as a vector for public debate on this complex phenomenon.
