Teaching performance: understanding the philosophical dimensions of training

The article maps the production on the theme of training divulged, in the period between 2007 and 2009, by the working group on the Philosophy of Education of the National Association of Postgraduate Studies and Research in Education (ANPEd). The philosophical dimensions of teacher formation are highlighted, in an effort to understand in which direction this research is going. The identification of diverse forms of delineating the use of rationality in teaching gives rise to expectations being placed on the shoulders of the teacher and his/her performance. The challenge is to establish communicative links, in the imageable sense, between the different forms of understanding the training and the rationality that guides teaching in these studies. The reflections on pedagogic acts nourish, in some way, the construction of agglutinating images of the ethical and aesthetic dimensions of training, and this concern with the performance of teachers constitutes a promising field for the debate on the confluences between philosophy and education.
