Influence of wastewater available in the soil and nitrogen manuring on brown cotton

Abstract

An experiment was carried out in a greenhouse of the Center of Technology of Natural Resources of the Federal University of Campina Grande, Paraíba state, aiming to verify the effect of water levels in the soil (25, 50, 75 and 100% of the available water in the soil), using treated urban wastewater and of tap water, and of doses of nitrogen (0, 150, 300 and 450 kg ha-1) on the water consumption of the crop, plant height, foliar area and biomass of the cotton of brown fiber, variety BRS 200 (Gossypium hirsutum L.). Randomized blocks design was used in mixed factorial scheme (4 x 4) + 1, plus a control irrigated with water of provisioning and receiving 300 kg N ha-1, with three replications. The ETc, height, foliar area and the biomass were influenced in a significant way by the doses of nitrogen, to the 100 days after the emergency. The levels of available water in the soil affected only the ETc and the production of biomass of the aerial part.
