ABSTRACT
In order to evaluate the movement of the aldicarb sulfone insecticide in soil and to obtain the parameters for the equation of the dispersive-convective model, which describes pesticide mobility, soil columns were prepared with disturbed soil samples from the principal potato growing regions in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The experiment was based on movement of solutions, under steady- state conditions, for the concentration range recommended by the manufacturer. The effluents of the soil columns were analyzed by gas chromatography techniques. The dispersive-convective equation model was efficient to describe the mobility of the product in the soil. The sorption of the aldicarb sulfone by soil was low, which resulted in retardation factors close to 1.0 and high slopes of breakthrough curves. It was also possible to verify the direct correlation between the hydrodynamic dispersion coefficient and the mean pore-water velocity.
