A OMC Continua Promovendo o Comércio de Forma Desigual: Novas Evidências a Partir dos Anos 1990

The paper provides evidences that the WTO continues to have a profound impact on its member’s trade, in the period 1990–2009, as originally prompted by Subramanian & Wei (2007)Subramanian, A., & Wei, S.-J. (2007). The WTO promotes trade, strongly but unevenly. Journal of International Economics, 72(1), 151-175.. Using a gravity model, based on panel data and the Poisson Pseudo Maximum Likelihood estimator, the paper compares the amount of multilateral trade liberalization in developed and developing countries. The results suggest that developing countries, during the period examined, benefited most from the increase in world trade promoted by WTO, inverting the situation identified by Subramanian & Wei (2007)Subramanian, A., & Wei, S.-J. (2007). The WTO promotes trade, strongly but unevenly. Journal of International Economics, 72(1), 151-175. in the period 1950–2000.
