Liberal institutes, neoliberalism, and public policies in Brazil

The article is about the so-called Liberal Institutes created by entrepreneurs in the early nineteen-eighties to diffuse neoliberal principles in Brazil. Sponsored by large economical groups, such institutes were dedicated to the political and ideological activity of defense as well as the disclosure of the precepts of neoliberalism. Two are the main concerns: the ideological doctrination amidst the Brazilian elites, especially those considered to be influential, and the formulation of studies and proposals of privatization-oriented public policy projects, especially those concerning the social functions of the State.
