Anti-Gramscism in Latin America: circulation and translation of ideas

Abstract:

The reference to Antonio Gramsci’s political ideas is curiously common in the texts and in the jargon of intellectuals of the so-called radical rights in Brazil and abroad. The origin of this connection with Gramscian thought, however, remains unknown to this day. With a view to elucidating this enigma and explaining the sources of “antigramsciism”, this article documents the reconstruction of the first paths of circulation and translation of this political thought, in the second half of the 20th century, particularly in Latin America. The research mapped its main international and national sources of diffusion, as well as the sources, themes and arguments of this intellectual current.
