Upper lip reconstruction with subcutaneous pedicle flap

INTRODUCTION: The main causes of acquired defects in the upper lip region are the traumatic and tumor resection which cause significant tissue deficits. The lip reconstruction should be performed in order to preserve the function and aesthetic appearance of the entire unit. For defects in the plan after partial resection and muscles that affect the upper lip, the subcutaneous pedicle flap in VY showed an easily made and very safe, with satisfactory results in terms of functional and aesthetic. OBJECTIVE: Provide a safe and practical alternative for correction partial defects in the plan a in the region of the upper lip with good results in post-operative. METHOD: Thirteen patients were operated on a cold sore and had rebuilt his lips in time with single subcutaneous pedicle flap. Results: Patients reported high satisfaction. All histopathology showed free surgical margins of the lesion. Conclusions: The subcutaneous pedicle flap in VY proved to be a good option to cover raw areas produced by resection of tumor lesions.
