Ruas de recreio na cidade de Belo Horizonte (fim da década de 1950 até 1980)

Abstract

In this research, tried to understand both the constitution and the occurrence of recreation streets in Belo Horizonte, in the late 1950s to the 1980s. Handwritten, printed, oral, and audiovisual sources were used. Clues about realization, planning, and/or requests of forty-five recreation streets have been identified, mainly related to commemorative dates and in school spaces, involving public and private institutions. The goal was to provide recreational and physical-oriented educational activities for children. The increasing number of recreation streets in this period, the presence in expressive events of the city, the meaningful involvement of the Physical Education School and of the Sports Director, among other reasons, reveal their importance in the content studied.
