Body practice in the swimming subject in undergraduate courses: knowing or not knowing how to swim?

ABSTRACT

Some students go through the Swimming subject in Physical Education courses and do not develop the ability to swim. This fact motivated us to develop this study, which aimed to analyze a body practice during the know-how and teach how to teach in the swimming discipline at three public universities in the city of Recife-PE. The data from the field emerged through a semi-structured interview with three professors. Data analysis was done with a view of Hermeneutics-Dialectics as a paradigm and with the contribution of categorical content analysis by theme. As a result, it is seen that knowing how to swim is an essential condition for future physical education professionals and for swimming teaching.
