In the context of sports competition, the head coach's influence can facilitate individual performance and propitiate a significant social support to others. The study aims to verify the perception of male basketball professional players over their head coaches' leadership style. The research is a descriptive and quantitative one. The research instrument is a survey - Revised Leadership Scale for Sport (RLSS). Twenty nine players of three Brazilian teams answered the survey and the main results show that the athletes of two studied teams evaluate their head coaches' behavior as predominantly autocratic, using their authority to make decisions with few or without athletes participation.
