The prediscursive's field in Lacan's theory

The aim of this article is to determine the influence of the prediscursive field in Lacanian theory. To do so, we used a schematic division of the teaching of Lacan's theories, as elaborated by Miller, in three specific moments. In the first ten seminars, the Structuralist perspective of Freudian texts is the main theme. In the second moment, which started in 1964, a movement can be observed: while the notion of structure lost the central position, the lived experience became more relevant. The end of the second moment was announced in the early 1970s. The seminar Encore marked the beginning of the last moment, and consolidated a special place to the pre-discursive field. The clinical consequence of this period is an emphasis on the body and the experiences before speech acquisition, which provided an alternative for the structural model.
