Social isolation in the managed society

Abstract

This article aims to reflect on whether the current social isolation recommended by the World Health Organization to face the Sars-Cov2 pandemic reflects a social distance for which we have already prepared ourselves in our training, when aimed at self-preservation. To this end, we examine, albeit briefly, issues associated with political and economic power, social progress, senses and reason, and the aversion to sexuality, based on works by authors of the Critical Theory - Hebert Marcuse, Max Horkheimer and Theodor W. Adorno - and of Sigmund Freud.

Keywords:
social isolation; pandemic; critical theory
