IDENTITY AND EMANCIPATION

The objective of this paper is to focus on the relations between identity and emancipation, seeking to: (a) enhance what it means to think about the issue of emancipation in studies about identity and within Critical Social Psychology, (b) frame what can be understood by emancipation and some of its characteristics; (c) establish its connection with the idea of autonomy and (d) move forward with some propositions that permit us to reflect, discuss, about the usage of this notion, that is many times presentes generically, without major consideration about its theoretical or political statute. The identity issues are thought with the approach adopted by reference from the theoretical propositions of Ciampa (1987, 2003, 2006).
