The groups on the knowledge production of psychology: a literature review

We report a literature review about groups-related works published in Portuguese and developed by Brazilian psychologists, either empirical, conceptual research or case studies. It consists of a descriptive-exploratory study that appealed to the indexed database literature accomplished through the following analysis issues: type and source of the publication; distribution of the publications according to the year; target population of case studies; group type; authors and institutional affiliation, and methodological design of empirical studies. We observed that: the publication sources are scattered; the publication on the field follows a growth tendency; group activities are more frequent with adults and pursue homogeneity criteria in case studies; the publications are not concentrated in researchers, professionals or specific research centers, and qualitative analysis is privileged in the empirical researches, which acclaim field diary, participant observation and interview as techniques.
