The aim of this study is to propose a model that can be used to evaluate the difficulties of technology-based companies in incubators and how to overcome these difficulties as well as to suggest actions for improvement, using incubators in Santa Catarina, Brazil, as a model. The results of this multi-case study indicate that although some of the incubated companies studied are at a stage in which they can easily overcome difficulties, many improvements are needed in the incubators and in the incubated companies themselves. The proposed model aligns well with the reality of technology-based companies in incubators and can be used as an evaluation tool for improvements to the business activities of these companies.
