Abstract

Having achieved, in its 30 years of existence, recognition in the scientific community, the journal Pro-Posições constitutes being a privileged source for searching, mapping, and organizing a knowledge concerning practices and reflections about the perspective from which the researchers have sough to publish their studies. The journal becomes a space which embraces, among others, reading as central theme and as an object of study for its authors since the first volumes. This article proposes the following questions: What are the forms and the movements through which reading is constituted as an object of study for different researchers? Which features and aspects has Pro-Posições spreadregarding the debate on reading? The corpus of the analysis is constituted by 19 articles published from 1990 to 2018 and available on Unicamp’s electronic portal of scientific journals and on Scielo’s website. In an interpretative and exploratory study of the articles’ titles, abstracts, and full texts, the research indicates that, in this journal’s 30 years of publications, reading has empowered contemporary discussions in the field and has updated itself in several thematic, theoretical, and methodological dimensions as it has established a dialogue with psychology, history, culture, language, education, public policies, among other fields and areas of knowledge. In Pro-Posições, reading has been made present with other questions and has presented itself to authors as a challengeto be faced in its political complexity and relevance: in the fight for the betterment of the conditions of promoting the use, the creation, and the sharing of texts in a deeply unequal society, as ours.
