Evaluation of Brazilian teachers' quality of life: a systematic review

Abstract

The aim of this systematic review was to identify characteristics and methodological qualities of studies evaluating quality of life (QOL) of Brazilian teachers. Electronic databases (SciELO, Lilacs, Pepsic) were consulted from the year 2000, using the descriptor combined with QOL keywords professors, teachers and education, restricting the search to publications in peerreviewed journals. The 12 studies that met inclusion criteria for the final sample were evaluated by two researchers, according to predefined indicators. The results showed a greater concentration of publications from 2012 and focusing on college education; preponderance of quantitative, cross-sectional studies, using standardized instruments. However, the presentation of results and conclusions, and the characterization of the studied samples revealed methodological issues that require attention. The impact of these issues in future research and the limitations of this study confirm the importance of the systematic review for scientific research.
