The era of congregations - social thought, education and Catholicism

Abstract

The national policy has placed at the center of discussions the relations, in Brazil, between the social thought and the religious ideals of various denominations. With a strong participation in political spaces, churches, elect education, sexuality and secularism as the main themes of the debate. This article analyzes the strategies of the Catholic Church in accordance with sectors of the Brazilian elites to develop the evangelization of culture during the twentieth century, the effects of which mark the current political scene. The objects of analysis of this research are the immigration of the congregations to Brazil and the process of restructuring and modernization of the Church. The study is rooted in a database, under construction, in which these religious associations and their social projects are mapped.
