Assessment in Dance: the case of the Physical Education undergratuate festivals

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to enlarge the discussion about assessment in Physical Education undergraduate trough the dance class, defending dance festivals as a tool of the education by proposing to the students a systemic view of this curricular component. The main objective is to check with the 57 students involved in the dance class in a Physical Education Graduate, located in a federal university, their vision as participants of a dance festival and its connection to an assessment system. The methodology followed the path of cross and descriptive qualitative research. The data was collected using interview and the analyses by Content Analyses. The results show that students recognize the festival as an important and attractive assessment tool that enables learning in addition to technical skills, but stressed the issue of obligation to their participation, as well as exposure of students in choreographic presentations of the event.
