Poetry effectiveness to the child-reader

Abstract

This article aims to investigate, based on an empirical research, how fourth-grade students constitute the poetical value, through a mediated study of poems, presented in collections of the School Library National Program (PNBE). Part of a larger research, this article proposes certain mediation procedures to be applied to the poem "O eco", by Cecília Meireles, discussing the poetic literacy. This investigation is based mainly on Huizinga and Kirinus. As the process of reader formation is considered a challenge for the educational framework and for the creation and maintenance of public policy, this investigation is easily justified. This paper contributes to present a possibility of school insertion on PNBE collections, pointing ways to the poetic development, which tends to be insufficiently explored in schools.
