Conscientization and Education: action and reflection that change the world

Abstract

This study investigates the convergence of conscientization and education, from the early experiences that made the act of literacy one conscientizing process. The works of Paulo Freire underlie this research, open to other contributions, through a theoretical work. In this convergence, we value human praxis as action and reflection on the world, in the emergence of a conscious act, engaged to the transformation of reality. Immersed in its own reality, the human being emerges as subject of history, a being of praxis, a humanizing and critical process, conscious of its own oppression. The conscientization constitutes, therefore, the first goal of all education, and reading the world precedes reading the word to become an act of creation, feeding the dream, prophecy and hope that drives praxis, motor of liberation.
