Quality of care in the Psychosocial Care Network: experiences of users in the Northeast of Brazil

Abstract

This article aims to understand, based on users' experiences, how the quality of care in the Psychosocial Care Network (RAPS) is revealed. This is a critical-interpretative qualitative research, developed through the analysis of medical records, systematic observation and narrative interviews with users (and their families) in three RAPS services in Fortaleza-CE, Brazil. The results pointed to humanization and comprehensiveness as dimensions of the quality of care, in its formal aspects, the centrality of psychoactive drugs, the ambience, and the relational aspects in care modes. It concludes that only a network based on the quality of care is able to cope with the complexity of the demands and to guarantee resolutiveness and the promotion of autonomy and citizenship to people with psychic suffering.
