Vocational guidance as a preliminary rite of passage: its clinical importance

This paper intends to analyze the practice of vocational guidance in a larger work perspective. The authors show how vocational guidance can, in a clinical approach, be understood as a modern representation of old rites of passage, and it also helps the maturation of the individual, who aims to leave the "world of childhood" for the "adult world". Vocational guidance can function as a modern rite promoting health and allowing the teenager to have experiences that have been discarded by Western civilization.
