In the present essay, we aim to describe, in their general lines, the patterns that madness assumes in Michel Foucault's archeological account in his Histoire de la Folie (1961), since, for the French thinker, madness is a rather historical than natural event. To cope with this presentation, we took on a semantic interpretation of the book.
