The language development and the education of the deaf

The objective of this study was, to collect data, to make possible a reflection on the language development and its relation to the cognitive development and the education of the deaf. To accomplish this objective, a bibliographical research has been performed, considering the points of some authors’ opinion, who deal with this theme. According to the studied literature, there is an evidence that the deaf has the necessary condition for language development and acquisition, so, it can be observed that deafness doesn’t make the person a human being with less possibilities or even unable, but with different possibilities for that. To obtain a final analysis of the general language development, and the possibilities in the deafness area, the cultural and linguistic differences of the deaf have been considered. This implies in not underestimating the cognitive and linguistic capacity of that person.
