For an integrative theory for understanding the reality

The present article intends to provide a critical reflection on the use of the Cartesian paradigm in the human sciences. It questions the use of the epistemological models of cause and effect, based on a study on the systemic focus which has not appeared in an emptiness, but rather in the evolution of science itself, in an attempt to explain the complex phenomena. For a better understanding of the theme, some main concepts of this new paradigm are brought to light. Moreover, this study brings forward details of the paradigm of complexity as one of the most relevant and current expressions of the systemic focus. Conclusions show some critical aspects that seem to be evident to the model.
