A field experiment was carried out at the Centre of Technology of Copers ucar, Piracicaba , SP, to know the action of hexazinone and diuron and mixtures on crab grass (Digitaria sanguinali s (L .) Scop) control, at advanced stage of development in sugarcane crop. Treatments were post -emergence aplication of hexazinone at 0,30; 0,35; 0,45 and 0,64 kg/ha; diuron at 0,88; 1,20 ; 1,36 and 2, 50 kg/h a; hexazinone plus diuron at 0, 30 + 0, 88 ; 9, 35 + 1, 20 an d 0,45 + 1,36 kg/ha; terbaci l at 0,96 kg/ha and metribuzin at 1,05 kg/ha and a check wi thout herbicide, kept cleam by hoeing. Effects of treatments on crabgrass control and on sugarcane production and on technological characteristics (brix, pol, purity, fiber), were determined. Better results on grass control after 15 days of aplications were obtained with hexazinone (0,4 5 kg/ha) plus diuron (1,3 6 kg/ha) . Also hexazinonc (0,64 kg/ha ) a lone presented good results in control. Hexazinone treatments caused phitotoxicity symptoms in sugarcane plants, witch dis apeared posteriorly without interference on productions. The other t reatments were not harmfull to the sugarcane plants.
