Life quality on the public service context: a social representation approach with health professionals

Nowadays the expression “life quality” is getting an increasing interest of professionals and researchers from the most varied human knowledge fields, especially on health services together with professionals and users. The aim of this article is to present the results of a research about the social representations of health professionals about life quality and its practices in the public service. It is an exploratory study developed in João Pessoa/PB, based on the social representations’ theory and instrumented by a semi-structured interview. The data collected were processed and analysed by the technique of content analysis (Bardin, 2002) and dimensioned by categories that revealed the objective and subjective dimensions of these representations. Regarding the public service, it was clear that a direct association with the difficulties and obstacles that public service presents are of little value to society and to its manager institutions.
