Dictatorship files and access to information: collection memory and human rights of the Federal University of Santa Catarina

ABSTRACT

The studies around the documentary heritage of the brazilian military regime provide the right of access to information and help preserve the memory of this historical period. Based on this understanding, this research has as main objective to analyze, from the point of view of Information Science, the process of constitution of a system of organization and management of the knowledge of a specific collection, still under construction: "Memory and Human Rights of the Federal University of Santa Catarina ". The methodological approach was based on a qualitative research related to the study of this collection, and descriptive in the analysis of the documentary organization available on the project website. As a partial result, the study shows that the creation of a digital archive can allow, in addition to the centralization of the documentary set, an effective system for retrieving and making information available. It is concluded that the approach related to the subject of information and memory emphasizes the importance of the organization and management of the information of this collection, in order to allow the publicity/diffusion of its contents, in its totality, in an intelligible and transparent way, the proper problematization of these research sources.
