Information Science: historical, delimitation of the field and its perspective on the area of Communication

From Saracevic, which points the Communication as an interdisciplinary field of Information Science (CI), this article seeks to establish some relations between these two areas of knowledge. First, it reflects about the history of Information Science and the three paradigms (physical, cognitive and social) that contributed to the delimitation of the field. Then, it discusses about the differences between a modern science and a postmodern science, noting that the two are related to Information Science. Finally, it questions the interdisciplinarity in CI and does some considerations about the points that separate and approach the Information Science from the communication as a discipline.
