The librarian in the treatment of data from the e-science: initial considerations

The article contextualizes the emergence of the term e-science and the technologies needed to support collaborative research of the XXI Century. It argues that data collected by technological instruments such as telescopes, satellites, specialized sensors constitute scientific information and therefore must be treated in order to facilitate their recovery, diffusion and preservation to assist in the development of future research. Discuss the role of the information professional in the treatment of data from e-science. It demonstrates that librarians from the United States and the United Kingdom are already aware of the need for this new type of treatment given. The objective of the study was to identify the basic skills necessary for the information professional who will organize the collection originated from e-science.
