Strategies for Organization, Representation and Management of Learning Paths

Abstract

Objective:

To present results of literature review on strategies of organization, representation and management of learning paths.

Method:

A literature review was carried out based on a bibliographic survey of publications between 2011 and 2016, adopting as a methodological course the steps of selection of search terms; establishment of search parameters; identification of sources for the bibliographic survey; exploratory, selective and analytical reading of bibliographic material; quantitative and qualitative analysis of results.

Results:

About the strategies of organization of learning paths, one identifies the use of controlled vocabularies, mainly taxonomies and ontologies. In relation to the strategies of representation of learning paths, it was observed that there are proposals for knowledge representation, that is, abstractions that aim to present a conceptual model of learning paths, and few solutions of visualization of learning path from the point of view the student. In relation to the strategies of management of learning paths, it was observed that there are few studies that contemplate this theme.

Conclusions:

It is concluded that there are gaps to be filled in the development of methodologies of organization, representation and management of learning paths, as well as in relation to the empirical applications of learning paths with user groups.
