School failure: who is to blame?

This study discusses how academic failures are being interpreted as psychological problems. 131 Were analyzed cases from a Public Health Service at Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo. The predominance was 7-to 12-year-old male cases and the majority of complains (71,4%) were related as learning desabilities and school problems. The school is the main source to guide the cases towards psychological services. Although these data confirm others from this area, we are focusing the limited way the educators are interpreting academic failures from children and adolescents as psychological problems.
