Religião como solvente: uma aula

On the opposite direction of Durkheim, to whom the role of religion is to reconnect the individual with the society he belongs, this essay states that nowadays religion’s social power is quite the opposite: it separates people from its origins. Taking Max Weber’s work as a guideline, it supports that universal religion of individual salvation, the religious form that usually predominates, works as a device that disconnects people from their mother-culture.
