A Novel in Series: “Watt”, by Samuel Beckett

ABSTRACT

The article approaches Samuel Beckett’s Watt as a reflection on the paths of the modern novel. Three elements are highlighted: the literary and philosophical parody in the author’s early work; the difficulty in determining the narrative focus; and the use of series and combinations to question the organization of romanesque time in the form of action.
