FINAL PAPER: IMPRESSIONS ON A PHYSICAL EDUCATION DEGREE CURRICULUM

Abstract:

This article describes and analyzes the knowledge production deriving from research performed as a mandatory requirement for the completion of the Degree in Physical Education at the Federal University of Rio Grande that took place between 2009 and 2020. Initiated in 2006, the course elected research one of its formative pillars, mainly for the curricular component entitled Research Seminar. As an empirical corpus, we selected a total of 205 final papers, which were then submitted to a documental analysis that pointed out a prevalence of both sports themed and sociocultural natured research. These data seem to be articulated with the formative experiences provided by the course along with teaching and extension; the characterization of the faculty and the peculiarities of the public university; among other events that drove the dynamics of this curricular component.
