Catalogue of Southern Brazilan Pollen Grains

In this part of our Catalogue, 18 species of MALVACEAE have been studied. Their pollen grains show morphological characteristics, related to the genera, so as surfaces covered by well developed spines, but with variable forms. The grains are spheroidal at prolate-spheroidal; they are 3- and 4-colporated for the studied species of Abutilon and Bastardiopsis, 4- and 5- colporated for that of Malvastrum and pantoporated for Hibiscus, Pavonia, Peltaea and Sida. Taking in account the pollen morphology, a phylogenetic relation of the genera has been worked out. And identification key for the studied species, based on the morphological characteristics of their pollen graind, is presented.
