Abstract
The purpose of my commentary is to visualize approximations of a reading about the practice of devotion in Vaishnava philosophy and the concepts of the ordinary and the everyday, based on Textures of the Ordinary. To this end, I analyze the notion of sacrifice and the unfoldings of the ordinary in the actual everyday and the eventual everyday. One of the guiding aesthetics of Veena Das’, work - but not the only one - is perhaps the way epic poems influence people’s lives, offering clues to the conceptual conformation of the everyday and the ordinary.
